About the Word watch PCB

Word watch is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by dragonlock2, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 36 × 36 mm, with 122 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny1616-M, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP73831-2-OT and TG-3541CE. By type, the board carries 92 diodes, 13 resistors, 6 capacitors, 4 switches, 3 ICs and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the wearables designs in this gallery.

Word watch: common questions

What microcontroller does the Word watch use?

The Word watch is built around the ATtiny1616-M, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Word watch PCB?

The Word watch measures 36 × 36 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Word watch?

122 components, from 20 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Word watch design files?

From the dragonlock2/kicadboards repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Word watch design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which dragonlock2 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Word watch without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
