Open hardware design files for the NeedForHeat Boiler Monitor devices

This repository contains the open hardware design files for the NeedForHeat Boiler Monitor hardware, which consists of PCB and 3D printable pipeclamps for:

Boiler-BASE module for the on the back of an M5Stack CoreInk device; Thermostat Cable Splitter module, which is inserted by the subject in the signal path between boiler and thermostat; * Two pipe clamps with temperature sensors that can be clipped on the supply and return pipes that carry hot water from the boiler to the radiators and returning from the radiators.

Thermostat Cable Splitter: common questions

How big is the Thermostat Cable Splitter PCB?

The Thermostat Cable Splitter measures 70 × 30 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Thermostat Cable Splitter?

38 components, from 22 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Thermostat Cable Splitter design files?

From the energietransitie/needforheat-boiler-monitor-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Thermostat Cable Splitter design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which energietransitie chose for the repository.
