About the MECB IO PCB

MECB IO is an open source PCB design by epaell, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.8 × 99.8 mm, with 33 components from 15 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the ATF22V10C-15PU, 74LS174, DS1302+, 74LS245 and 74LS374. By type, the board carries 9 resistors, 8 diodes, 5 ICs, 5 capacitors, 3 connectors and 1 crystal.

The board also adds a Real-time clock and 31 bytes of non-volatile memory, again based on an RC2014 design (https://github.com/electrified/rc2014-ds1302-rtc/tree/main).

I have confirmed that the V1.0 version of the FP I/O board and RTC appear to be fully operational with MECB and RomWBW (though I haven't actually tested the front panel via an external cable). Note that the PLD places the RTC at $C0 (or $XXC0 for memory mapped CPUs) - this is the default location for RomWBW. The front panel I/O, however, is at $C1 (or $XXC1 for memory mapped CPUs) as opposed to the standard port of $00 (which…

MECB IO: common questions

How big is the MECB IO PCB?

The MECB IO measures 99.8 × 99.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MECB IO?

33 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MECB IO design files?

From the epaell/MECB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MECB IO design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with epaell. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
