About the Lux PCB

Lux is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Erox-02, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 94 × 28 mm, with 46 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1U-N16R8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TPS63020DSJR. By type, the board carries 23 capacitors, 7 resistors, 4 modules, 2 ICs, 1 battery holder and 1 transformer.

It belongs with the robotics & motion, sensors and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Luxion is a custom made drone made with rust unlike standard c++ drones . It uses a custom pcb, ESP32-S3-WROOM-1U , MPU6500-IMU(breakout as it costs less than the bare), four motor drivers, and a 1S LiPo to power the drone. Also a remote with same esp module, 2x joysticks connect

It is a remote controlled drone made from absolutely nothing , with 8520 motors and 65mm props it can easily take off with 2+ thrust-mass ratio . It is ideal for mini quadcoptor with mountable sensors ,as it has a lot of gpio's left any sensor can be easily mounted if not too heavy .

Lux: common questions

What microcontroller does the Lux use?

The Lux is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1U-N16R8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Lux PCB?

The Lux measures 94 × 28 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Lux?

46 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Lux design files?

From the Erox-02/Luxion repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Lux design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which Erox-02 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Lux without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
