About the Dac PCB

Dac is an open source PCB design by eshazen, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 116.8 × 111.8 mm, with 56 components from 33 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 6SN7, 74HCT245, 74LS138, DS1306 and IM6402. By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 11 ICs, 8 connectors, 7 resistors, 3 switches and 3 diodes.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

MAX503/530 DAC. Needs 1 address bit and 8 bit data with strobe. UART with FT232 USB interface. Thinking of IM6402 since it's dead simple. Needs a 16X clock. Buttons, encoders, maybe a couple of LED drives Z-axis drive (9-12V to J2 on CRT board; could be +/-5V) * Real-time clock e.g. DS1306

Dac: common questions

How big is the Dac PCB?

The Dac measures 116.8 × 111.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.600198 mm thick.

How many components are on the Dac?

56 components, from 33 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Dac design files?

From the eshazen/scope-clock repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Dac design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with eshazen. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
