About the Eink weather station PCB
Eink weather station is an open source ESP32 PCB design by EthanGreenhouse, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 60 mm, with 29 components from 18 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32E-N8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TP4056-42-ESOP8 and AP2112K-3.3. By type, the board carries 9 capacitors, 9 resistors, 4 connectors, 3 ICs, 2 switches and 2 diodes.
It belongs with the displays & leds, power & battery and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.
From the project
Battery powered ESP32 e-paper weather station. KiCad, 2-layer, two board revisions.
A battery-powered ESP32-WROOM-32 board that pulls weather data over WiFi and renders it on a Waveshare 4.2" four-colour e-paper panel. KiCad 10, two layers, 80 × 60 mm.
Status: Rev B.2 design frozen 2026-08-21, cleared for fabrication. Not yet built.
Rev A — 48.5 × 57.5 mm, 23 components, fully routed, and would not have run on a battery. Two blocking problems:

Eink weather station: common questions
What microcontroller does the Eink weather station use?
The Eink weather station is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32E-N8, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Eink weather station PCB?
The Eink weather station measures 80 × 60 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Eink weather station?
29 components, from 18 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Eink weather station design files?
From the EthanGreenhouse/eink-weather-station repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Eink weather station design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with EthanGreenhouse. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Eink weather station without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
