About the VNA Project PCB

VNA Project is an open source STM32 PCB design by fdreshaj, published on GitHub. It is a 6-layer board measuring 200 × 200 mm, with 220 components from 80 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32H730VBTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AP63205WU, AP63203WU, USBLC6-2SC6, HT7533-1 and MIC5501-3.0YM5. By type, the board carries 89 capacitors, 70 resistors, 19 ICs, 16 diodes, 9 connectors and 8 inductors.

Design of a VNA

The Subsystems and Simulations folder contains all files related to the research and pre fabrication testing/simulations of subsystems

VNAProject folder contains all KiCad files of the board itself. Specifically open VNAProject.kicad_pro to check out the design. KiCad files do not have RF subsystem layout as that will be done in ADS during testing.

The KiCad project lives in the fdreshaj/VNA_Design repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

VNA Project: common questions

What microcontroller does the VNA Project use?

The VNA Project is built around the STM32H730VBTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the VNA Project PCB?

The VNA Project measures 200 × 200 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the VNA Project?

220 components, from 80 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the VNA Project design files?

From the fdreshaj/VNA_Design repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the VNA Project design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with fdreshaj. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the VNA Project without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
