From the project

A full build needs several parts. All of these should be easily reproducible, while for the ones where we rely on an external manufacturer, we made sure to have ample spares.

A full build needs several parts. All of these should be easily reproducible, while for the ones where we rely on an external manufacturer, we made sure to have ample spares.

You will need one of each item, except when stated otherwise.

The case is an off-the-shelf widely available 1U case, made by Gainta.

We only use the actual enclosure. All other bits can be discarded.

Fosdem dual capture: common questions

What microcontroller does the Fosdem dual capture use?

The Fosdem dual capture is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Fosdem dual capture PCB?

The Fosdem dual capture measures 87.9 × 95.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Fosdem dual capture?

211 components, from 55 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Fosdem dual capture design files?

From the FOSDEM/video repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Fosdem dual capture design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with FOSDEM. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Fosdem dual capture without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
