About the Eikgeiger PCB

Eikgeiger is an open source ESP32 PCB design by fredriknk, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 116 × 31 mm, with 85 components from 31 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32E-N16, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TC1264-3.3VDBTR and FT231XS. By type, the board carries 34 resistors, 19 capacitors, 14 diodes, 5 connectors, 4 transistors and 3 ICs.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and science & space designs in this gallery.

Eikgeiger opensource project for detection of background radiation in Norway. It is developed in cooperation with Eik Ideverksted. Use the design for anything you like comercially and privately, but i would love if you fork it so i can see what it is used for.

Thanks to the DIYgeiger radmon project for inspiration DIYGeiger RADMON + kit.

If you want to handsolder this, i really recommend to check out the awesome IBOM assembly utility (use it with a desktop as it sucks on mobile) Assembly IBOM

Eikgeiger: common questions

What microcontroller does the Eikgeiger use?

The Eikgeiger is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32E-N16, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Eikgeiger PCB?

The Eikgeiger measures 116 × 31 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Eikgeiger?

85 components, from 31 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Eikgeiger design files?

From the fredriknk/eikgeiger repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Eikgeiger design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which fredriknk chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Eikgeiger without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
