About the Camera-R2000 PCB

Camera-R2000 is an open source ESP32 PCB design by grbbt, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 70 × 70 mm, with 82 components from 37 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32P4_QFN104, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TP4056-42-ESOP8, DW01A, XC6210B332MR, ME6211C28M5 and ME6211C18M5. By type, the board carries 29 resistors, 25 capacitors, 9 ICs, 6 transistors, 6 connectors and 3 diodes.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, power & battery and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open source repository for R2000 Camera development.

The R2000 is a hand-held digital camera on an 70mm circular PCB. Fixed-focus wide-angle lens, film-style filters, RGB flash, and a round touchscreen — all driven by an ESP32-P4 + ESP32-C6 SOM. It's a camera that prioritises feel and fun over clinical image quality.

- 80mm round PCB — compact, pocketable form factor - OV5640 MIPI CSI-2 sensor — 5MP, fixed focus, wide angle (~1.5m hyperfocal) - 2.1" round ST7701S touchscreen — live viewfinder and menu UI via LVGL - 3-channel RGB flash — independent R/G/B control for software-adjustable colour temperature - Film aesthetic filters — colour…

Camera-R2000: common questions

What microcontroller does the Camera-R2000 use?

The Camera-R2000 is built around the ESP32P4_QFN104, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Camera-R2000 PCB?

The Camera-R2000 measures 70 × 70 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Camera-R2000?

82 components, from 37 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Camera-R2000 design files?

From the grbbt/Camera-R2000 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Camera-R2000 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which grbbt chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Camera-R2000 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
