About the BluePill-BMP PCB

BluePill-BMP is an open source STM32 PCB design by grumat, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 60 mm, with 23 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the AD8531ARTZ, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the FT232RL_Breakout. By type, the board carries 11 resistors, 8 connectors, 2 ICs, 1 diode and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

THIS DEVELOPMENT BOARD WAS DEPRECATED IN AUG/2022

~~For the development of the project we need access to the hardware pins and components. So, one of the easiest way to go is the STM32F103 Blue Pill.~~

~~This is a really cheap and powerful solution. The chip offers following advantages if compared to other 8 or 16-bit cheap modules:~~

- ~~Unbeatable price/performance~~ - ~~Lots of documentation and community support~~ - ~~Higher clock rates when compared to MSP430 alternatives~~ - ~~Lots of interface pins~~ - ~~Possibility to bit-bang pin at a rate near 10 MHz, which is the upper limit of…

BluePill-BMP: common questions

What microcontroller does the BluePill-BMP use?

The BluePill-BMP is built around the AD8531ARTZ, from the STM32 family.

How big is the BluePill-BMP PCB?

The BluePill-BMP measures 70 × 60 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the BluePill-BMP?

23 components, from 19 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the BluePill-BMP design files?

From the grumat/glossy-msp430 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the BluePill-BMP design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which grumat chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the BluePill-BMP without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
