About the STLink-Adapter PCB

STLink-Adapter is an open source TI MSP430/CC PCB design by grumat, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 29.2 × 26.7 mm, with 7 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the MSP430, from the TI MSP430/CC family. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 2 capacitors, 1 switch and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

Glossy MSP430 - Embedded GDB Debugger for MSP430

This is an adapter currently not in use, that was designed as a resource to migrate Glossy-MSP430 firmware to a regular STLink clone using a fixed 3.3V realm.

The idea behind this future project is to produce an entry level option for those willing to experiment Glossy-MSP430 without the effort to develop hardware prototypes.

This board does not feature any active component, so it is just a solid and compact solution to avoid a bunch of wires.

STLink-Adapter: common questions

What microcontroller does the STLink-Adapter use?

The STLink-Adapter is built around the MSP430, from the TI MSP430/CC family.

How big is the STLink-Adapter PCB?

The STLink-Adapter measures 29.2 × 26.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the STLink-Adapter?

7 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the STLink-Adapter design files?

From the grumat/glossy-msp430 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the STLink-Adapter design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which grumat chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the STLink-Adapter without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug TI MSP430/CC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
