About the ORA Control Board Rev 2.1

ORA Control Board Rev 2.1 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by gtrupiano, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 52.5 mm, with 60 components from 33 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega32U4-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP25625-x-SS, NCP1117-5.0_SOT223 and IMU_MOUNT. By type, the board carries 19 resistors, 16 capacitors, 9 connectors, 4 ICs, 4 diodes and 3 transistors.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

Senior Design implementation for Electrical Subsystems work for ORA's IGVC Robot

In the robot, there were plenty of components that needed to interface together. These include both ODrives over CAN and status light control. Its main purpose is to reduce the amount of wires that need to be going from each component and have every necessary component on a single board.

ORA Control Board Rev 2.1: common questions

What microcontroller does the ORA Control Board Rev 2.1 use?

The ORA Control Board Rev 2.1 is built around the ATmega32U4-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the ORA Control Board Rev 2.1?

The ORA Control Board Rev 2.1 measures 100 × 52.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ORA Control Board Rev 2.1?

60 components, from 33 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ORA Control Board Rev 2.1 design files?

From the gtrupiano/ECE-4998 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ORA Control Board Rev 2.1 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with gtrupiano. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ORA Control Board Rev 2.1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
