About the Test 09. With ESP module

Test 09. With ESP module is an open source ESP32 PCB design by henkjannl, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 90 × 54 mm, with 62 components from 41 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N8R2, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the UZ1086L-33-TN3-R, EL357N-G and ILI9341_no_touch. By type, the board carries 18 diodes, 12 resistors, 9 capacitors, 7 test points, 5 ICs and 3 connectors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

Opentherm room thermostat that can be controlled through Telegram, but also locally

I wanted to create a room thermostat that can be controlled remotely ('honey, did you remember to switch off the heating?') but which also remains fully operational if internet connectivity is lost. Therefore it can be controlled through Telegram, but also via the hardware unit if WiFi is down. This is also useful since visitors may not want to use Telegram.

Test 09. With ESP module: common questions

What microcontroller does the Test 09. With ESP module use?

The Test 09. With ESP module is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N8R2, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Test 09. With ESP module?

The Test 09. With ESP module measures 90 × 54 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Test 09. With ESP module?

62 components, from 41 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Test 09. With ESP module design files?

From the henkjannl/RoomThermostat repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Test 09. With ESP module design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which henkjannl chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Test 09. With ESP module without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
