1. Prepare the SD card formatted as FAT32. Other filesystems like NTFS and exFAT are not supported. 2. Copy wasca.ss and wasca.rv to the SD card root directory. Note that the file names should be in lowercase on the card, check FAT32 LFN support or reformat the card if they are not. 3. Insert the SD card into wasca, plug wasca into the cartridge slot, power on the console 4. Verify that the front LED on the cartridge turns red, then blue. 5. wasca menu should appear on screen…

Wasca: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wasca use?

The Wasca is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Wasca PCB?

The Wasca measures 100 × 77.4 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wasca?

124 components, from 38 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wasca design files?

From the hitomi2500/wasca repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wasca design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which hitomi2500 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Wasca without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
