Slides and Design Files for BSides Canberra 2021

The pcb-ehd files require a recent KiCad Nightly build to open, whereas the SAO can be opened in KiCad 5.

In each of the project folders, you will find the below files:

- proj.kicadpro is the overall KiCad project (.pro for V5). - proj.kicadsch is the schematic (.sch for V5). - proj.kicadpcb is the physical layout. - outputs/schematic.pdf is a PDF of the schematic. - outputs/assembly.html is a "Human Pick and Place" file which will help you hand assemble the board. - outputs/bom.csv` is the bill of materials required to populate the boards. I have not fully specified the resistors and…

Blinky Bowtie: common questions

What microcontroller does the Blinky Bowtie use?

The Blinky Bowtie is built around the ATSAMD21G18A-MF, from the Microchip SAM family.

How big is the Blinky Bowtie PCB?

The Blinky Bowtie measures 142.7 × 72 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Blinky Bowtie?

95 components, from 33 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Blinky Bowtie design files?

From the joshajohnson/bsidescbr2021 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Blinky Bowtie design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which joshajohnson chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Blinky Bowtie without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
