About the Bmacro Base V2 PCB

Bmacro Base V2 is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by KipJM, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 182.6 × 130.9 mm, with 133 components from 40 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RASPBERRYPI_PICO_2W, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the HTP4056-42-ESOP8, 74HC238, SN74LVC1T45DBV, BQ27427 and MT3608L. By type, the board carries 27 diodes, 25 capacitors, 21 LEDs, 14 resistors, 5 ICs and 4 connectors.

It belongs with the keyboards and robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

An open source, smaller, more configurable, and more capabable video editing keyboard based on the raspberry Pi Pico 2W.

A bluetooth-capable condensed macro keyboard with a motorized jog wheel, powered by a Raspberry Pi Pico 2W.

Supports remappable keyboard input, smooth scrolling, MIDI input, or driverless Davinci Resolve control through reverse-engineered HID emulation.

Each key is a hotswappable MX-style plateless switch with a reverse-mounted addressable RGB LED. The 2u and 1.5u in/out clips/timeline keys also feature screw-mount stabilizers.

Bmacro Base V2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bmacro Base V2 use?

The Bmacro Base V2 is built around the RASPBERRYPI_PICO_2W, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the Bmacro Base V2 PCB?

The Bmacro Base V2 measures 182.6 × 130.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bmacro Base V2?

133 components, from 40 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bmacro Base V2 design files?

From the KipJM/blackmacro-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bmacro Base V2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which KipJM chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Bmacro Base V2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
