About the Control PCB

Control is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by krzys9876, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 62.7 × 35.6 mm, with 40 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the CH340G, MCP23017_SS and AP1117-33. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 9 connectors, 8 resistors, 4 ICs, 2 crystals and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

HTPC, Volumio player, power amp, power supply etc.

This is a dump of various files related to the devices that I use in my home entertainment setup.

A miniITX PC enclosed in custom case (see: modushop.pl). The PC is fanless, so I had to choose a relative low power processor and a good radiator. However, since I have a overhead projector with a loud fan it doesn't matter at all.

A Raspberry Pi based Volumio player (see: volumio.com) enclosed in custom case. There are two Pis: one is a controller for two displays, the other is the actual player.

Control: common questions

What microcontroller does the Control use?

The Control is built around the ATmega328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Control PCB?

The Control measures 62.7 × 35.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Control?

40 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Control design files?

From the krzys9876/htpc_rig repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Control design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which krzys9876 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Control without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
