About the BitPirate Main PCB

BitPirate Main is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Lab217MX, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 57 × 64 mm, with 8 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the COMM-TH_ESP32-S3-DEVKITC-N16R8, from the ESP32 family.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Main PCB of the ESP32 Piratebus Kit project. This board acts as the brain of the system, based on the ESP32 microcontroller and compatible with the ESP32 Bit Pirate firmware.

It integrates all the interfaces needed to communicate with the peripheral modules (NFC, Ethernet, Sub-GHz) and provides USB connectivity for programming and serial communication.

- ESP32 microcontroller (dual-core, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) - USB port for programming and communication - Expansion headers for additional modules - Protocol support: UART, SPI, I2C, JTAG - Compatible with ESP32 Bit Pirate firmware

BitPirate Main: common questions

What microcontroller does the BitPirate Main use?

The BitPirate Main is built around the COMM-TH_ESP32-S3-DEVKITC-N16R8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the BitPirate Main PCB?

The BitPirate Main measures 57 × 64 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the BitPirate Main?

8 components, from 4 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the BitPirate Main design files?

From the Lab217MX/Kraken-Kit repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the BitPirate Main design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Lab217MX chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the BitPirate Main without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
