About the Pikkolo mesh stick PCB

Pikkolo mesh stick is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by LastZactionHero, published on GitHub. It is a board, with 75 components from 47 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the SX1262IMLTRT, GD25Q32E, PE4259-63, ME6211C33M5G and LP5907MFX-3.3. By type, the board carries 40 capacitors, 10 resistors, 8 ICs, 6 inductors, 3 test points and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

USB-stick Meshtastic node: RP2040 + SX1262 US915. Verified schematic-as-code with netlist verification.

A USB-stick-form Meshtastic node: RP2040 + SX1262, US915, ~20 × 75 mm, 2-layer, 2.0 mm FR-4, plugging straight into a USB-A port on PCB edge fingers. Dual antenna feed (printed IFA or SMA whip) selected at build time by a single 0 Ω resistor.

The schematic is captured and verified. Layout has not started.

setup.py writes KiCad's global library tables and sets two path variables (ZLIB, KICAD3RDPARTY), backing up whatever was there into build/. It clones the esden footprint collection (~330 MB) on first run. It refuses to run while KiCad is open, because KiCad rewrites its config on exit and…

Pikkolo mesh stick: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pikkolo mesh stick use?

The Pikkolo mesh stick is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How many components are on the Pikkolo mesh stick?

75 components, from 47 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pikkolo mesh stick design files?

From the LastZactionHero/pikkolo-mesh-stick repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pikkolo mesh stick design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with LastZactionHero. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Pikkolo mesh stick without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
