KiCad Schematic & PCB for the platform16 synth
This is the KiCad project for platform 16 — a compact digital synthesizer built around the Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller. The board hosts 16 potentiometers for real-time parameter control, a high-quality audio output chain, and USB-C for power and an SWD port for development.
Platform 16 is a self-contained generative synthesizer platform. The hardware is designed to pair with swappable firmware engines — each one turns the same 16 knobs into a different instrument. A companion front panel editor (web app) generates printable overlays so you can label the knobs for whichever firmware…

Platform16: common questions
What microcontroller does the Platform16 use?
The Platform16 is built around the RP2350_60QFN, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the Platform16 PCB?
The Platform16 measures 112 × 86.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Platform16?
108 components, from 33 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Platform16 design files?
From the lerouxb/platform16-pcb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Platform16 design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with lerouxb. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Platform16 without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
