About the LeTube PCB

LeTube is an open source ESP32 PCB design by llextv, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 83.1 × 34.9 mm, with 34 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MAX3485, TPS54331DR and AP2112K-3.3. By type, the board carries 10 capacitors, 7 resistors, 6 connectors, 4 ICs, 3 diodes and 2 switches.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

10 addressable LED tubes for stage lighting, controlled with Art-Net and QLC+.

LeTube is a DIY project to build a set of 10 LED tubes for stage lighting.

The goal is pretty simple: build something similar to commercial pixel tubes, but for much less money and using hardware that I can actually modify and repair myself.

The tubes use WS2815 12V LED strips and are controlled by a single ESP32 running WLED. QLC+ sends the lighting data through Art-Net over Wi-Fi.

LeTube: common questions

What microcontroller does the LeTube use?

The LeTube is built around the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the LeTube PCB?

The LeTube measures 83.1 × 34.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the LeTube?

34 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LeTube design files?

From the llextv/leTube repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LeTube design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with llextv. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the LeTube without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
