About the PerifAddOn PCB

PerifAddOn is an open source ESP32 PCB design by logisim-evolution, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 60.6 × 75.2 mm, with 69 components from 30 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AP2281-3WG-7, SN74HC266DR, USB2513B-AEZC, NCP1529A and USB2244-AEZG-06. By type, the board carries 26 capacitors, 24 resistors, 7 ICs, 5 connectors, 3 switches and 2 crystals.

Openhardware educational platform based on the ideas of the ulx3s and Gecko4Education

The Gecko5Modular is a new take on an open hardware educational platform. The ideas of the Gecko5Modular are based on the open hardware ULX3S board, the Gecko4Education line of boards, and the recently developed Leguan development board.

This is a small (60.6x100 mm) standalone FPGA board for education, research and general purpose. It's open source and open hardware. It continues my line of educational boards used in the past for teaching and research projects.

PerifAddOn: common questions

What microcontroller does the PerifAddOn use?

The PerifAddOn is built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the PerifAddOn PCB?

The PerifAddOn measures 60.6 × 75.2 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PerifAddOn?

69 components, from 30 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PerifAddOn design files?

From the logisim-evolution/GECKO5Education repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PerifAddOn design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which logisim-evolution chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PerifAddOn without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
