About the Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) PCB

Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by lou12de39r, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 275.8 × 106.3 mm, with 164 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the MDBT50Q-1MV2, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6 and MCP73831T-2ACI/OT. By type, the board carries 67 switches, 66 diodes, 12 resistors, 7 capacitors, 5 LEDs and 3 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

Ashiyu(足湯) — tomtho-slim mk2 の愛称。Designed by tommys079. Inspired by ClickBoard by Salicylic_acid3(自作キーボード温泉街). Keycap models are derived from ACC Keycaps (CC BY-NC 4.0).

This repository holds the frozen layout and the board plan for the second keyboard: roBa-style column stagger, centre trackpad, thin case.

Charger STAT is not wired to the MCU: the MCP73831 drives STAT up to VBUS (5 V) when charging is done, which would overdrive an nRF GPIO. Firmware can see USB power from the nRF's own VBUS detection instead.

Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) design files

The KiCad project lives in the lou12de39r/ashiyu repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2): common questions

What microcontroller does the Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) use?

The Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) is built around the MDBT50Q-1MV2, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) PCB?

The Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) measures 275.8 × 106.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.2 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2)?

164 components, from 21 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) design files?

From the lou12de39r/ashiyu repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with lou12de39r. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Ashiyu (tomtho slim mk2) without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
