About the AirSensor for-HomeAssistant PCB

AirSensor for-HomeAssistant is an open source ESP32 PCB design by MarcFinns, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 70 mm, with 25 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO-ESP32C3, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the DC-DC 3V3, DPS310 and SCD41. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 4 ICs, 3 connectors, 2 diodes, 2 resistors and 1 inductor.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, displays & leds and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

AirSensor for HomeAssistant (hardware and software)

A multi-room air quality monitor built around ESPHome and Home Assistant. Each unit sits flush on the wall like a light switch — mains powered, fully self-contained, nothing to charge or manage. Built on the ESP32-C6, it is hardware-ready for Matter, making it future-proof as smart home standards evolve.

Each unit reports the following to Home Assistant in real time:

AirSensor for-HomeAssistant: common questions

What microcontroller does the AirSensor for-HomeAssistant use?

The AirSensor for-HomeAssistant is built around the MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO-ESP32C3, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the AirSensor for-HomeAssistant PCB?

The AirSensor for-HomeAssistant measures 70 × 70 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the AirSensor for-HomeAssistant?

25 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the AirSensor for-HomeAssistant design files?

From the MarcFinns/AirSensor-for-HomeAssistant repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the AirSensor for-HomeAssistant design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with MarcFinns. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the AirSensor for-HomeAssistant without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
