About the Incubator PCB

Incubator is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by MariwanJ, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 124 × 70.2 mm, with 42 components from 28 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the L7805, LM35-LP, MT3608, CAT24C128 and PS2561. By type, the board carries 19 resistors, 6 ICs, 4 transistors, 4 connectors, 2 modules and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Incubator Using PID controller. Arduino based project

The incubator system is built using an Arduino Nano and a PID controller. The key components include:

- Incubator enclosure - PID controller for temperature regulation - Arduino Nano as the main microcontroller - Egg turner mechanism for gently rotating the eggs during incubation

The egg turner is an essential part of the incubator system, as it helps ensure the eggs develop properly by exposing different areas to the heat and humidity within the incubator.

Incubator: common questions

What microcontroller does the Incubator use?

The Incubator is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Incubator PCB?

The Incubator measures 124 × 70.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Incubator?

42 components, from 28 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Incubator design files?

From the MariwanJ/Incubator repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Incubator design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which MariwanJ chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Incubator without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
