About the OpenDTU BreakoutBoard PCB

OpenDTU BreakoutBoard is an open source ESP32 PCB design by marove2000, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 35 × 55 mm, with 12 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-DEVKITC-32D, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the NRF24L01_Breakout. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 3 resistors, 2 ICs, 2 diodes and 2 capacitors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A BreakoutBoard fully compatible to https://github.com/tbnobody/OpenDTU/

This is a fully comaptible Breakout Board for the OpenDTU Project. With the opendtu breakout board and the opendtu software, you can read out, control and process Hoymiles inverters. In addition, the current energy yield is shown directly on a display.

This PCB has been designed together with the developers and is fully compatible. New features will of course always be added immediately ;).

OpenDTU BreakoutBoard: common questions

What microcontroller does the OpenDTU BreakoutBoard use?

The OpenDTU BreakoutBoard is built around the ESP32-DEVKITC-32D, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the OpenDTU BreakoutBoard PCB?

The OpenDTU BreakoutBoard measures 35 × 55 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the OpenDTU BreakoutBoard?

12 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the OpenDTU BreakoutBoard design files?

From the marove2000/openDTU_BreakoutBoard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the OpenDTU BreakoutBoard design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which marove2000 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the OpenDTU BreakoutBoard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
