About the PCB-LEDs-Controller

PCB-LEDs-Controller is an open source ESP32 PCB design by MbFredys, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 134.4 × 106.7 mm, with 36 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MOC3021M, LM1117-3.3, FT232RL and PCA9685BS. By type, the board carries 14 capacitors, 6 resistors, 5 ICs, 4 transistors, 3 connectors and 1 switch.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

LED-controller PCB design exercise focused on PWM control, power distribution, and hardware documentation.

This is a LED controller PCB design exercise that allows for precise control of LED brightness and color with the following features:

1. 💡 Allows for the regulation of LED brightness. 2. 🎨 Allows for the choice of color if it's an RGB LED. 3. 🔌 Accepts a supply voltage of 100-240V AC. 4. 🔋 Has 12V DC / 5A and 24V DC / 2.5A outputs. 5. 📶 Has WiFi and Bluetooth communication by ESP32 Microcontroller. 6. ⏰ Has a built-in clock for timed lighting. 7. ♻️ Allows for energy-efficient LED usage.

PCB-LEDs-Controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the PCB-LEDs-Controller use?

The PCB-LEDs-Controller is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the PCB-LEDs-Controller?

The PCB-LEDs-Controller measures 134.4 × 106.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PCB-LEDs-Controller?

36 components, from 22 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PCB-LEDs-Controller design files?

From the MbFredys/PCB-LEDs-Controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PCB-LEDs-Controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which MbFredys chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PCB-LEDs-Controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
