About the MyBikesGotLED PCB

MyBikesGotLED is an open source ESP32 PCB design by mcqn, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 45.2 × 87.1 mm, with 65 components from 42 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the IP5310, RT8097B and SN74AHCT125. By type, the board carries 21 resistors, 14 capacitors, 12 connectors, 5 diodes, 4 ICs and 3 jumpers.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

The hardware for MBiGL is based around the ESP32 C3 Mini

Code can be uploaded via USB serial or with an external UART board via J31 (six pin header). More details on the Espressif website

There are four pins available for RGB data output. LEDdata (IO5) and LEDclock (IO6) are the primary outputs. IO3 and IO4 are not connected to the level shifter (U4) by default but can be used as additional channels by bridging JP42 and JP43 with solder if required.

MyBikesGotLED: common questions

What microcontroller does the MyBikesGotLED use?

The MyBikesGotLED is built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the MyBikesGotLED PCB?

The MyBikesGotLED measures 45.2 × 87.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MyBikesGotLED?

65 components, from 42 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MyBikesGotLED design files?

From the mcqn/my-bikes-got-led repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MyBikesGotLED design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which mcqn chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the MyBikesGotLED without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
