About the TeensyBoardZ80 PCB
TeensyBoardZ80 is an open source NXP PCB design by mecparts, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 115 × 57.2 mm, with 38 components from 24 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the Teensy4.0, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the 74LS05, MAX3232, MCP23017, 74LS245 and L4931CZ33-AP. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 10 resistors, 7 connectors, 6 ICs, 1 battery holder and 1 buzzer.
It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.
From the project
A Teensy 4.0 emulated Z80 ZCPR3.3/ZSDOS computer.
I've been asked "why didn't you use a Teensy 4.1 with the built in uSD holder?" The simple answer is that I designed this before the 4.1 was announced.
And as to why all the thru hole parts were used when surface mount would have allowed either a smaller board or more features in the same amount of space, this was a "use as many parts that I actually have on hand" project.

TeensyBoardZ80: common questions
What microcontroller does the TeensyBoardZ80 use?
The TeensyBoardZ80 is built around the Teensy4.0, from the NXP family.
How big is the TeensyBoardZ80 PCB?
The TeensyBoardZ80 measures 115 × 57.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the TeensyBoardZ80?
38 components, from 24 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the TeensyBoardZ80 design files?
From the mecparts/TeensyBoardZ80 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the TeensyBoardZ80 design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which mecparts chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the TeensyBoardZ80 without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
