About the Xmas orn PCB
Xmas orn is an open source ESP32 PCB design by MRobertEvers, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 27.5 × 41.5 mm, with 20 components from 15 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TLV75733PDBVR-MS. By type, the board carries 6 resistors, 4 diodes, 3 connectors, 3 capacitors, 2 ICs and 2 switches.
It belongs with the displays & leds and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.
From the project
ESP32 xmas display
ESP-IDF firmware for an ESP32-S3 driving a 240×240 ST7789 SPI LCD. It renders an animated Old School RuneScape model in software — no GPU, no PSRAM — using toridraw for the raster and rscache for the cache formats.
The model, its animation, its textures and toridraw's lookup tables are all baked into flash at build time. The device decodes nothing at boot.
Current subject: the Tree Gnome Village spirit tree (dat2 model 2851) playing entendseq, the idle that fades the orbs in its branches.

Xmas orn: common questions
What microcontroller does the Xmas orn use?
The Xmas orn is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Xmas orn PCB?
The Xmas orn measures 27.5 × 41.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Xmas orn?
20 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Xmas orn design files?
From the MRobertEvers/esp32-xmas repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Xmas orn design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with MRobertEvers. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Xmas orn without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
