From the project
Open Source STM32F405 Flight Controller
The PCB was design using KiCad, an open source schematic and PCB design software.
Betaflight has a list of supported microcontrollers and the STM32F405RGT6, because it is the most common and economical choice while providing enough performance.
The Betaflight Flight Controller Manufacturer Design Guidelines strongly recommends against using the MPU6000 as it is end-of-life. Instead ICM-42688-P is suggested.

Cobalt f405: common questions
What microcontroller does the Cobalt f405 use?
The Cobalt f405 is built around the STM32F405RGTx, from the STM32 family.
How big is the Cobalt f405 PCB?
The Cobalt f405 measures 38.5 × 38.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Cobalt f405?
68 components, from 39 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Cobalt f405 design files?
From the msaribekyan/cobalt-f405 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Cobalt f405 design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which msaribekyan chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Cobalt f405 without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
