MDS hardware based on f1c200s and esp32-c3

KiCad sources and fabrication outputs for a small network audio player board built around an Allwinner F1C200s SoC, an ESP32-C3 for Wi-Fi, NAND flash storage, an EA3036 power management IC, and an audio DAC daughter board.

The repository contains two KiCad projects: - network_player/ — the main board - dac/ — the audio DAC daughter board

References on GitHub: v1 is at commit c1560a5, v1.1 is the v1.1 tag, v2 lives on the networkplayerv2 branch. The v1jlcpcb` tag points to the JLCPCB return files for v1.

Network player: common questions

What microcontroller does the Network player use?

The Network player is built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Network player PCB?

The Network player measures 30.1 × 66.6 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 7.78 mm thick.

How many components are on the Network player?

72 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Network player design files?

From the naguirre/mds-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Network player design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with naguirre. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Network player without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
