About the DomoDisp PCB

DomoDisp is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by NdK73, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 85 mm, with 20 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-12, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the AP111733. By type, the board carries 12 resistors, 2 ICs, 2 connectors, 2 capacitors and 1 switch.

From the project

DomoNode, DomoNode-inout, DomoDisp, etc.

This project consists of a protocol spec, the design files for physical nodes and the source code that glues it together.

Full protocol description is available, together with examples of a monitor and a sender. The protocol is text-based to ease debugging.

ClearSky technology inside: the basic concept is that no coordinator is needed for the nodes to work after the initial configuration. There must not be a single point of (catastrophic) failure. And obviously no "cloud" (hence ClearSky) service is needed either: you, and only you, decide if/when/which data can exit from your network!

DomoDisp: common questions

What microcontroller does the DomoDisp use?

The DomoDisp is built around the ESP-12, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the DomoDisp PCB?

The DomoDisp measures 100 × 85 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DomoDisp?

20 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DomoDisp design files?

From the NdK73/HomeAutomation repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DomoDisp design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which NdK73 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the DomoDisp without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
