About the T80-5000-left PCB

T80-5000-left is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by nearestexit, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 167.6 × 148.2 mm, with 77 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q128JVS, XC6206PXXXMR and SRV05-4. By type, the board carries 41 diodes, 16 capacitors, 11 resistors, 4 ICs, 3 connectors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

QMK Compatible RP2040-based USB PCBs for the Cherry G80-5000 and the G80-5700.

QMK Compatible Open Hardware USB-C PCBs for the vintage Cherry G80-5000 split ergonomic keyboard and its companion numpad, the G80-5700.

This project brings the G80-5000 & 5700 into the 21st century, with all three pieces able to function independently. There are four PCBs included in this project: the T80-5000 Left, T80-5000 Right, T80-5000 Daughterboard, and T80-5700. The T80-5000 Left & Right work with QMK's split keyboard functionality, and the T80-5700 functions as an independent keyboard which can be passed through the right half's USB hub.

T80-5000-left: common questions

What microcontroller does the T80-5000-left use?

The T80-5000-left is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the T80-5000-left PCB?

The T80-5000-left measures 167.6 × 148.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the T80-5000-left?

77 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the T80-5000-left design files?

From the nearestexit/t80-5000 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the T80-5000-left design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with nearestexit. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the T80-5000-left without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
