About the Slim-Sleep-Tracker PCB

Slim-Sleep-Tracker is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by NicholasKorth, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 31.8 × 15.3 mm, with 57 components from 37 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the NRF52840-QIAA-R, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the MAXM86161EFD+T, GT-USB-7010ASV, BQ25120AYFPR, C2976675 and LSM6DSV16XTR. By type, the board carries 30 capacitors, 11 resistors, 7 ICs, 3 inductors, 2 crystals and 2 switches.

It belongs with the power & battery, sensors and rf & radio designs in this gallery.

The tracker is a 31.75 x 15.25 mm board worn on the inner wrist. The motion sensor, the optical heart-rate and SpO2 sensor and the skin temperature sensor sit on the bottom side, against the skin. The top side carries the nRF52840 microcontroller and radio, the USB-C charging port, the charger, two side buttons…

Slim-Sleep-Tracker: common questions

What microcontroller does the Slim-Sleep-Tracker use?

The Slim-Sleep-Tracker is built around the NRF52840-QIAA-R, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Slim-Sleep-Tracker PCB?

The Slim-Sleep-Tracker measures 31.8 × 15.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 0.8 mm thick.

How many components are on the Slim-Sleep-Tracker?

57 components, from 37 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Slim-Sleep-Tracker design files?

From the NicholasKorth/Slim-Sleep-Tracker repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Slim-Sleep-Tracker design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Slim-Sleep-Tracker without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
