Its main chip is the XC7A50T-2CSG325I, from the FPGA family. Other key parts include the MT25QU128ABA8ESF-0SIT, CONMHF1-SMD-G-T, 93C46B/SN, ADP1754ACPZ-1.3-R7 and NCP700BSN33T1G. By type, the board carries 136 capacitors, 55 resistors, 18 ICs, 14 diodes, 11 inductors and 9 connectors.

It belongs with the rf & radio and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

A custom CM4 SDR HAT based on the AD9364 and the ARTIX-7 FPGA.

A custom Software Defined Radio (SDR) HAT built around the Xilinx Artix-7 XC7A50T FPGA and Analog Devices AD9364 RF transceiver. This project is inspired by the FreeSRP open-source SDR by Lukas Lao Beyer and design references from the FMCOMMS4.

The goal is a powerful, Linux-capable SDR transceiver with a compact form factor and eventually, a handheld device like the HackRF Portapack.

PeriR: common questions

What microcontroller does the PeriR use?

The PeriR is built around the XC7A50T-2CSG325I, from the FPGA family.

How big is the PeriR PCB?

The PeriR measures 137.4 × 81.3 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.5984 mm thick.

How many components are on the PeriR?

249 components, from 76 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PeriR design files?

From the nihcoc/PeriR repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PeriR design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the PeriR without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
