OpenTac: open tools to design, fabricate, read and simulate flex-PCB tactile skins that sense normal and shear force, for any robot surface.

Reads one OpenTac sensor of up to 30 rows x 30 columns. This is the "I2C gain switch" version: the gain is set in firmware, with no jumpers.

Readout 60pin: common questions

What microcontroller does the Readout 60pin use?

The Readout 60pin is built around the STM32G431KBU6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Readout 60pin PCB?

The Readout 60pin measures 37 × 34.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Readout 60pin?

54 components, from 32 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Readout 60pin design files?

From the opentac/opentac.github.io repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Readout 60pin design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which opentac chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Readout 60pin without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
