About the ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER PCB

ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER is an open source ESP32 PCB design by pasachan, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 124.8 × 68 mm, with 97 components from 48 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32D-N16, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the LMR51430XDDCR, USBLC6-2SC6, CH340C, ULN2803A and MAX3485AEASA+T. By type, the board carries 23 capacitors, 23 resistors, 12 connectors, 12 diodes, 8 relays and 7 ICs.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

An 8-channel relay controller with Wi-Fi, an RS-485 field bus, and a 12 V power rail for downstream nodes. Designed as the master board for a small home-automation network: this board switches loads directly, talks to the outside world over Wi-Fi, and powers and polls a chain of low-cost slave boards (ATtiny / STM32 class) over RS-485.

The KiCad project lives in the pasachan/ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER: common questions

What microcontroller does the ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER use?

The ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32D-N16, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER PCB?

The ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER measures 124.8 × 68 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER?

97 components, from 48 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER design files?

From the pasachan/ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which pasachan chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ESP-32-RELAY-CONTROLLER without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
