From the project

PCB

A custom ESP8266 (ESP-12F) Development Board designed from scratch using KiCad, integrating USB Type-C, USB-to-UART programming, 3.3 V power regulation, automatic reset and boot control, ESD protection, and GPIO breakout.

This project demonstrates the complete PCB development workflow from schematic design to PCB layout, validation, Gerber generation, and manufacturing preparation.

Esp12E-F: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esp12E-F use?

The Esp12E-F is built around the ESP-12F, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Esp12E-F PCB?

The Esp12E-F measures 43.3 × 26.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esp12E-F?

28 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esp12E-F design files?

From the pavankalyan226/Esp12E-F repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esp12E-F design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with pavankalyan226. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Esp12E-F without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
