About the Circuits birrino PCB

Circuits birrino is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Pernotto, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 91 × 34.5 mm, with 58 components from 33 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TXS0102DCU, PC817, DS2484, CP2102N-Axx-xQFN28 and TLV62568DDC. By type, the board carries 20 resistors, 10 capacitors, 7 ICs, 6 connectors, 5 transistors and 4 diodes.

It belongs with the sensors, audio and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

Small dual relay esp32

A KiCad hardware project for fermentation temperature control: an ESP32-C3 module drives two isolated relay outputs (heat/cool) from 1-Wire (DS18B20) temperature sensors, runs ESPHome firmware, and is powered indifferently from USB-C or an auxiliary 5V input.

- ESP32-C3-WROOM-02 module with on-module PCB antenna, running ESPHome (ESP-IDF framework) - USB-C connector with onboard CP2102N USB-UART bridge — flash and get a serial console directly over the same USB-C port, no separate programmer needed - Dual-sourced 5V rail: USB VBUS is diode-ORed against an auxiliary 5V input on the 10-pin…

Circuits birrino: common questions

What microcontroller does the Circuits birrino use?

The Circuits birrino is built around the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Circuits birrino PCB?

The Circuits birrino measures 91 × 34.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Circuits birrino?

58 components, from 33 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Circuits birrino design files?

From the Pernotto/circuits-birrino repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Circuits birrino design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which Pernotto chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Circuits birrino without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
