4/17/25 9:55pm. Added TMC2226 stepper driver to schematic and followed the datasheet. left questions in the schematic. main concerns are vmotor filtering, do we need diagnostic pins like pdn_uart, diag and index, and what vsense resistors do we use? there are other smaller questions too. -Dorjee

4/17/25 11:42pm. made some small updates. vmotor basic filtering is two 100n decouple caps and one 100u bulk cap. they recommend low ESR caps, which provide faster response time. however, they also recommend voltage spikes to be delayed, which would imply high ESR caps would be good too? need to do…

Power supply v1: common questions

What microcontroller does the Power supply v1 use?

The Power supply v1 is built around the ESP32-C6-MINI-1U-H4, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Power supply v1 PCB?

The Power supply v1 measures 188.6 × 145.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Power supply v1?

90 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Power supply v1 design files?

From the pestvillian/ASAT repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Power supply v1 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with pestvillian. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Power supply v1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
