About the Sisyphus PCB

Sisyphus is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Plajta, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 52 × 42 mm, with 55 components from 30 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q128JVS, TPS62291, BQ25619, USBLC6-2P6 and TCA8418. By type, the board carries 25 capacitors, 12 resistors, 7 ICs, 4 connectors, 2 diodes and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

A soundboard giving voice to those who don't have it

This repo contains everything you need to build one: the PCB designs, the 3D-printable case, and the firmware that makes it all work, with a construction manual in the works.

If you're looking for the web configurator to manage your sounds, check out Lithos (source code here).

Made with our custom Eternity bootloader it can be updated even from a browser.

A built in color sensor makes it easy to swap your sound sets by just swapping in a piece of paper and magnets make it all feel like magic. Built in a sturdy, slim, and light 3D-printed body, held together by friction and screws for easy…

Sisyphus: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sisyphus use?

The Sisyphus is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Sisyphus PCB?

The Sisyphus measures 52 × 42 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sisyphus?

55 components, from 30 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sisyphus design files?

From the Plajta/sisyphus repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sisyphus design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Sisyphus without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
