About the LED Panel PCB

LED Panel is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Plasmarobo, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 151.1 × 95.3 mm, with 34 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY85-20PU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 74HC595. By type, the board carries 12 ICs, 11 resistors, 7 diodes, 2 connectors and 2 capacitors.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

Heavily inspired by Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and Bomb Corp.

This ammounts to a electroncs and software programming project, with a side-helping of game design and art!

The software for this is not yet written, but I'm looking forward to the increased power and peripherals vs the ATTiny85.

The eventual plan is to laser cut and paint and acrylic panel to fit into a case. An alternative may be to 3D print some slotable modules and a motherboard panel to hold them.

LED Panel: common questions

What microcontroller does the LED Panel use?

The LED Panel is built around the ATTINY85-20PU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the LED Panel PCB?

The LED Panel measures 151.1 × 95.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the LED Panel?

34 components, from 13 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LED Panel design files?

From the Plasmarobo/Disarmed repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LED Panel design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the LED Panel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
