About the Billig PCB

Billig is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by playlogo, published on GitHub under the TAPR-OHL-1.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 86 × 74 mm, with 58 components from 34 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117ST33T3G, W25Q128JVSIQ, ABM8-272-T3_C20625731, LM2596SX-5.0/NOPB and CYA1050-47UH. By type, the board carries 21 capacitors, 10 connectors, 8 ICs, 7 resistors, 6 transistors and 2 switches.

From the project

Designing & building a "big" 3D printer from scratch

- 24V power input - Build-in 5V 3A Stepdown (for RP2040 and external RPI) - RP2040 with 128MB Flash - 3 Port USB hub - 1x UART connection - 1x ARGB connection - 2x High current 24V PWM outputs (5A) - 4x Low current 24V PWM outputs (2A) - A 3D printable case with an included 30mm fan, can be mounted to a DIN rail with this adapter

Why ?: I originally only wanted to slap a rpi pico onto a pcb and add 6 mosfets to it, but like you can see I got sidetracked and added my own rp2040 (my first one!), a step-down converter (also a first) and a USB hub...

Billig: common questions

What microcontroller does the Billig use?

The Billig is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Billig PCB?

The Billig measures 86 × 74 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Billig?

58 components, from 34 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Billig design files?

From the playlogo/billig repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Billig design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its TAPR-OHL-1.0 license, which playlogo chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Billig without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
