About the RP2040-Eins PCB

RP2040-Eins is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by red-scorp, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 68.6 × 53.3 mm, with 64 components from 34 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the C2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q128JVS, C6187, C2456297 and C6186. By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 14 resistors, 10 connectors, 5 ICs, 5 transistors and 5 diodes.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

RP2040-based board with Arduino Uno footprint

The RP2040-Eins project aims to create a replacement for the Arduino UNO R3 or Arduino M0 using the RP2040 MCU.

The RP2040-Eins board is a 4-layer design intended to accommodate the popular Raspberry Pi RP2040 MCU within the standard Arduino UNO R3 footprint.

This board is crafted in Germany, and its name, "RP2040-Eins", incorporates the German word "Eins" (pronounced as "eye-ns"), which translates to "one". This name choice reflects the use of the same form-factor as the Arduino "Uno", which means "one" in Italian.

RP2040-Eins: common questions

What microcontroller does the RP2040-Eins use?

The RP2040-Eins is built around the C2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the RP2040-Eins PCB?

The RP2040-Eins measures 68.6 × 53.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6062 mm thick.

How many components are on the RP2040-Eins?

64 components, from 34 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the RP2040-Eins design files?

From the red-scorp/RP2040-Eins repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the RP2040-Eins design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with red-scorp. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the RP2040-Eins without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
