About the Tri-Hard slab v2 PCB

Tri-Hard slab v2 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Rev1s10n, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 270 × 150 mm, with 100 components from 42 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the TLV73333PDBV, W25Q128JVS and SN74LV1T34DBVR. By type, the board carries 36 capacitors, 24 switches, 20 diodes, 11 resistors, 4 ICs and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

Slim all button controller powered by GP2040-CE firmware, with custom 15 buttons layout.

Mainly inspired by Egg On Rice Controller by b1nc, Mille-feuille by ぽめ and BridgeBoard by 立川 Bridge.

The design is heavily based on flatbox rev4 by jfdeor2 and USB Passthrough Board by TheTrain and Lucipher, which is licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Some close up photo for each feature: Main circuit is heavily based on flatbox with some components replaced due to parts shortage 3 tactile switches for your daily stuff and the display on the top left, there's additional slide switch for display pin switch (GND / VCC) All slide switches on the right hand side, they sit flush with the enclosure but…

The KiCad project lives in the Rev1s10n/Tri-Hard-slab-v2 repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Tri-Hard slab v2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Tri-Hard slab v2 use?

The Tri-Hard slab v2 is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Tri-Hard slab v2 PCB?

The Tri-Hard slab v2 measures 270 × 150 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tri-Hard slab v2?

100 components, from 42 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tri-Hard slab v2 design files?

From the Rev1s10n/Tri-Hard-slab-v2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tri-Hard slab v2 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Rev1s10n. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Tri-Hard slab v2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
