About the ESP32 HAT

ESP32 HAT is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Rufilla, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 30 × 65 mm, with 63 components from 30 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C6-MINI-1-H8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117LPST33T3G, CP2102N-A02-GQFN28 and LBC847BDW1T1G. By type, the board carries 27 resistors, 15 capacitors, 9 diodes, 4 ICs, 3 connectors and 3 switches.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, displays & leds and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

A Raspberry Pi HAT for the ESP32 C6

KiCad design files for a Raspberry Pi Zero form-factor HAT carrying an Espressif ESP32-C6-MINI-1 module. The board gives a Raspberry Pi (or any 40-pin host) 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5 LE, Zigbee and Thread connectivity, and can also be used stand-alone over its USB-C port. This repository contains the hardware design only — schematic, PCB and design rules; no firmware.

ESP32 HAT: common questions

What microcontroller does the ESP32 HAT use?

The ESP32 HAT is built around the ESP32-C6-MINI-1-H8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the ESP32 HAT?

The ESP32 HAT measures 30 × 65 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ESP32 HAT?

63 components, from 30 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ESP32 HAT design files?

From the Rufilla/ESP32_HAT repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ESP32 HAT design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which Rufilla chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ESP32 HAT without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
