About the Rukaibox PCB

Rukaibox is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by rukai, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 288.8 × 160.1 mm, with 60 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the XC6206, USBLC6-2SC6 and W25Q128JVS. By type, the board carries 17 capacitors, 11 resistors, 4 ICs, 3 diodes, 2 connectors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A custom hitbox controller for platform fighters. The PCB used is the gram slim PCB I have a fork of the PCB in this repo purely because I wanted to tweak some things for my own usage while remaining compatible with the standard gram slim PCB.

This design might be interesting to you if you want a fully 3D printable enclosure with a built in lid that flips underneath the controller when in use. But keep in mind that when the lid is open, it exposes the PCB as an aesthetic choice, which comes with a risk of damage to the PCB.

Rukaibox: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rukaibox use?

The Rukaibox is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Rukaibox PCB?

The Rukaibox measures 288.8 × 160.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rukaibox?

60 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rukaibox design files?

From the rukai/rukaibox repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rukaibox design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with rukai. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Rukaibox without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
