Mowi is an Open Source hardware project that combines a compact Septentrio's GNSS receiver mosaic with a wireless ESP32 Wrover module. This extension enables mosaic to access wireless internet, receive remote commands, or use real-time corrections. The communication between the mosaic and the ESP is provided throughout a standard 802.3 Ethernet link. In-build USB HUB allows a user to connect to mowi with a single USB cable while accessing both the…

Mowi design files

The KiCad project lives in the septentrio-gnss/mowi repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Mowi: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mowi use?

The Mowi is built around the ESP32-WROVER-IE/E, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Mowi PCB?

The Mowi measures 70 × 47.5 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mowi?

248 components, from 73 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mowi design files?

From the septentrio-gnss/mowi repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mowi design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with septentrio-gnss. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Mowi without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
